World's Greatest Dad

Whenever anyone mentions the name Bobcat Goldthwait, the one thing coming to your mind is: MESHUGGINA (crazy in Yiddish for all you gentiles)... He's "Zed" from the Police Academy franchise (yes, I know I am dating myself for remembering) or the guy who lit up Jay Leno's couch in the middle of an interview... but yet he is also the guy who has written and directed this sensitive and touching new dark comedy, World's Greatest Dad, starring Oscar winner, Robin Williams.
The movie tells the story of Lance Clayton, a father who has to deal with the fact that his extremely unpleasant son has died under very auspicious circumstances. Now he is trying to make this death go down in vane, mean something to him and the world and unintentionally creates something way bigger than himself.
This is a well acted, witty written and directed in a very real-to-life yet sensitive way. It is a movie that deals with death but more importantly it is a social criticism about the state of our society and who would have believed that the crazy guy from Police Academy is behind all this...
I give it a definite thumbs up...
